High-Performance​ and​ Low Maintenance ​Railing

Styles and trends are such critical components in the design process of an outdoor living space. In this course we will discuss how styles and trends are selected and review the options that exist in railing systems.​The maintenance of the systems is also a key component. We will discuss the materials that these rail systems are made from and how they benefit the end user by having a system that is not only beautiful but is easy to maintain.​Of course code compliance is the key element to life safety in outdoor spaces. We will discuss how code compliance comes into play with hand rail.​This course will also review how some reputable railing manufacturers have a great deal of Architectural Resources to aid in the design of outdoor spaces.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Identify three key points to think about when designing rails for a deck on SF Residential homes.
  2. Identify the three key points to think about when looking at rail for MF structures.
  3. Explain the value of using standardized products and processes in order to develop railing details and master specifications that may be applied to diverse projects.
  4. Learn about the tools available to architects to help with designing rail quicker and easier.
